Q: Where can I go to find out more information about environmental regulations, programs, and issues affecting my community?

The two best sources of information on the environment are the Environmental Protection Agency and the State of Connecticut's Department of Environmental Protection. These two websites contain a wealth of information about the environment, natural resources, environmental laws and regulations, as well as environmental programs that are administered by the State and Federal governments.

Q: I have concerns about the environmental impact a certain project will have on my state, town, or a particular waterway. Whom can I contact to express my concerns?

Different types of projects have specific environmental permit requirements. Some projects require permits from the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, or the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Other types of projects may only require approval from a local environmental authority such as an Inland Wetlands Commission. It is best to try to determine which agency or agencies have jurisdiction over the environmental permits required for the specific project you are concerned about and then contact that agency directly. If you cannot determine which agency is responsible for the environmental aspects of a project, please feel free to contact Senator Lieberman's State Office in Hartford for further assistance.
